Vijayawada City Police recently took up a project namely eNethra for installation of CC TV Cameras in the City in Public Private Partnership (PPP) Model and it was inaugurated by the DGP, AP, Hyderabad on 17-06-2016 with the following objectives.
The project is mainly based on the implementation of provisions of the Act namely AP Public Security Act- 6th July, 2013 in which it was envisaged that all the shops and establishments shall install CC TV Surveillance Cameras with a provision for the storage of Video footage for 30 days and the technical equipment must be adhering to the specifications notified by the Government in the rules of the above Act.
In Vijayawada City, as on 16-09-2016, total 2177 CC Cameras have been installed in various Junctions, Colonies, Apartments, Business and Establishments on the initiation taken by City Police. In addition to the above, 220 High resolution CC Cameras installed across 1) MG Road, 2) Besant Road, 3) One Town Sivalayam Street, 4) Satyanarayanapuram and at present, the eNethra optical fiber grid comprises in 7 kilometers and it is going to be extended in the entire City. As per the crime statistics, 123 cases have been detected and property worth Rs.85 Lakhs has been recovered in Vijayawada City with the help of CC Cameras already installed by various welfare associations, apartment owners and shops and establishments.
Vijayawada Police is taking all steps to create awareness among the citizens and business establishments on the need of arranging CC Cameras by conducting various campaigns and programmes. The provisions of the AP Public Security Act, 2013 are being implemented in a friendly atmosphere thereby making the citizens to realize the importance of CC Cameras.
