In 2016-17, Bhavani Deeksha Viramana or Udwasana or Visarjana begins in last week of December 2016. Some devotees observed Deeksha from Kartika Pournami to Makara Sankranthi. Bhavani Deeksha dhari is known as ‘Bhavani’. The dress code followed is red coloured shirt and pant or dhoti and a pancha (shawl type cloth on shoulders). The niyamas or rules set are same as all other Deekshas like Ayyappa Deeksha and Hanuman Deeksha.
Vijayawada Kanakadurga Bhavani Deeksha 2016 begins on November 10, Karthika Ekadashi day with utmost gaiety. Bhavani Deeksha ends in last week of December 2016. Nearly 10-15 lakh devotees are expected to visit the temple for Kanakadurgamma darshyanam this year. Mandala Deeksha of the devotees commenced from November 10 and continue till December 20, 2016 to 24 December.
